So I have decided... Going to further schooling past an undergrad, is totally overrated. Well... I guess I should wait until after doing it to see if I still agree... BUT as for now, it feels like way more stress than needed.
We have first started the process by applying to take the Optometry Admissions Test (OAT). Yes, you have to apply to take the test. Not only that, but it cost us $220US just to take the thing. Not horrible, people pay that to take tests all the time. But then we were looking into taking a prep class for it, and could only find an online thing through KAPLAN. Guess how much that was? $1400. Yes, to take a prep class. Is it worth it? We haven't decided yet...
Not only that, but we have been told that most people don't get accepted their first year of applying to schools, so there is more money that we have to waste just applying to a bunch of schools, twice maybe. And, then we will have to fly to the schools in order to do the interviews with the schools. Bah. All while being starving students.
So much stress...
Is it worth all of this to become an optometrist? Who knows people... who knows...

It will all be worth it in the end. Have I told you how my dad got stuck being a social worker (no offence to you Kandace, it just wasn't his first choice) instead of majoring in Math like he wanted to because he couldn't afford the $35 kit he needed for one of the Math classes? Pay the money and follow your dreams!!!!
ps. do you know people who have gone through the process and can mentor you? I know both my bro's just studied on their own for the DAT, but maybe the Optometry Test people normally take the expensive course you were talking about! I need to talk to you because I have a plan for geoff to go to medical school in the carribean (i seriously know a TON of ppl who are doing this right now). so he goes to med school and then specializes in opthamology. then you guys can be rich and buy a cabin and we can all vacation together!

we have messaged a couple guys we know about whether they took the prep course, and so far none did it. so who knows what we will do?
ALSO geoff was looking into an optometry school out there! haha. still an ocean away, but closer!
he was also looking into opthamology.. did you hear they make like 800,000 a year?? or something like that?? but geoff wasnt thrilled to have to do another 9 years of schooling. haha. maybe though!
